For more than 30 years, Jeff Winokur has conducted science professional development programs and taught pre-service and in-service courses in the teaching of science to children. He most recently worked on EDC's Connecting Science and Literacy Program, which led to the publications The Essentials of Science and Literacy and Science and Literacy: A Natural Fit. Winokur has consulted to early childhood programs throughout New England, providing teacher workshops on science for young children. He has also worked with a number of New England school districts on the development of their elementary science programs.

Winokur is also an Early Childhood and Elementary Science Specialist at Wheelock College, where he teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses in the teaching of science to children ages 3–12.

Previously at EDC, he was a member of the Center for Urban Science Education Reform (CUSER) in the Center for Science and Educadtion. He was a technical assistance team member for Fall River and Springfield, Massachusetts, and a staff trainer for the Worcester North Quadrant Initiative. He was a member of the elementary team for the EDC K–12 Science Curriculum Dissemination Center, as well as one of the developers of The Young Scientist Series, an EDC project that developed early childhood science curriculum and training materials.

Winokur received a BS from the University of Pennsylvania and an MEd from Antioch University.
