The Wallace Foundation has awarded a $600,000 grant to LTD to support its newly launched $75-million, six-year Principal Pipeline Initiative to help six urban school districts build a corps of effective school leaders. EDC researchers will assess the quality of the districts’ leader training programs, using a tool previously developed by EDC with Wallace support, and recommend ways to improve principal training.

“This new initiative takes previous Wallace work an important step further,” said Cheryl King, Director of the Leadership for Learning Innovation Program. “We are very pleased to support the foundation’s efforts to find out whether districts can create pipelines that produce a large number of highly qualified principals and whether student achievement rises as a result.”
